First Private Public Partnership Breaks Ground in Downtown Anchorage
Debenham Construction will begin its construction project in Spring 2022 in downtown Anchorage. “Block 96” is an $11.6 million project that provides 48 apartment units with structured parking which will create sixty construction jobs and two full-time positions when it is completed.
ACDA will be hosting a groundbreaking ceremony and all media are invited.
The groundbreaking will be at the construction site of Block 96 apartments located on the corner of 8th & K Street in downtown Anchorage at 2:00 p.m. on March 24, 2022.
“Projects like this demonstrate the strong support my Administration has for development, especially in downtown. Bringing more housing to the center of our city is crucial to attracting and retaining a talented workforce in Anchorage,” said Mayor Bronson. “The Block 96 development is one piece in a larger framework of projects we are helping the private sectors advance throughout our great city.”
Robbins notes that Shaun Debenham submitted his construction plan on March 18, 2022, to the Municipality of Anchorage’s Development Services department to begin the process of getting permits in place.
“Our first P3 project breaking ground is a testament that the Municipality of Anchorage supports development projects city-wide,” said Mike Robbins, Executive Director for ACDA. “This and other projects like it sends a message to the development community that if you want to develop, Anchorage wants you to do it here.”
Founded in 1984, ACDA is a public corporate authority for the Municipality of Anchorage. ACDA facilitates community and economic development opportunities and public parking for a safe and vibrant community.
