Construction has started at Block 96 located on the corner of 8th Avenue and K Street.
The 5-level 48-unit apartment complex, includes one-bedroom and studio market-rate units, a heated parking garage, and a courtyard.
The $11.6 million dollars public-private project with Shaun Debenham, a local Anchorage developer, is expected to provide approximately 60 construction jobs, generate new property taxes for the Municipality of Anchorage, and create additional housing in downtown Anchorage.
“If people are living in downtown Anchorage, they are typically going to shop, dine, work, and enjoy all the events that downtown offers,” said Melinda Gant, Community Development Director for Anchorage Community Development Authority. “Housing is an important step to transforming downtown and creating economic stability.”
The construction project is expected to be completed by the fall of 2023.
