ACDA Reflects on a Year of Progress and Investment in Anchorage's Future
Executive Director’s Message
At the Anchorage Community Development Authority (ACDA), our mission is to serve as a catalyst for development that strengthens our community and supports Anchorage’s long-term growth. Through strategic partnerships, infrastructure investments, housing initiatives, and public engagement, ACDA continues to focus on projects that improve quality of life and create opportunities across our city.
In 2025, ACDA advanced several initiatives aimed at supporting economic development, housing, and community revitalization. One of the most important efforts this year was the Downtown Anchorage Study, which gathered valuable feedback from residents, businesses, workers, and visitors. The survey provided important insight into community priorities, including housing, safety, walkability, beautification, and public spaces. These findings will continue to help guide future planning and investment decisions.
A key milestone this year was the development of Willow Commons, a microunit housing project completed in partnership with the Municipality of Anchorage. The project reflects ACDA’s commitment to innovative housing solutions, strategic partnerships, and long-term community development while helping address Anchorage’s growing housing needs.
ACDA also partnered with the Municipality of Anchorage on the Beyond the Beige initiative, an effort focused on bringing more color, creativity, and public art into Anchorage’s urban spaces. Through murals, lighting, and placemaking improvements, the initiative reflects a shared commitment to creating welcoming and engaging environments throughout the community.
In addition, EasyPark Alaska continued its investment in the community through the Park It Forward Grant Program. Funded through parking revenue reinvestment, the program supported local beautification, arts, and community-driven projects that enhance public spaces and strengthen community connections. These projects demonstrate how partnerships and reinvestment can create meaningful and lasting impacts for Anchorage residents and visitors alike.
ACDA’s work also aligns with Mayor Suzanne LaFrance’s 10,000 Homes initiative by helping support the conditions necessary for additional housing and responsible growth throughout Anchorage. By investing in infrastructure, supporting redevelopment opportunities, and encouraging community-focused planning, ACDA remains committed to helping
Anchorage grow in a way that is sustainable, inclusive, and forward-looking.
